Legal Separation
If you become legally separated, you can drop coverage for your spouse and his/her child(ren) from your benefits. However, you are not required to drop their coverage. You may start coverage for yourself and your dependents if you or your eligible dependent child(ren) have lost coverage as a result of your legal separation. You must drop coverage for your spouse and step-child(ren) before making any benefit changes.
If you make this change 31 days after the event, you can only drop coverage for your ex-spouse and stepchildren. You cannot make other benefit changes until annual enrollment.
If you are making changes within 31 days of the event, review the benefits listed below to see the changes you may make or changes that will occur as a result of this life event.
Your eligible dependent(s) previously covered by Northrop Grumman programs and affected by the separation may elect to continue benefit coverage under COBRA.
